We felt the word palaeography was getting a bit lonely here so we have added diplomatics to keep it company. Neither word is heard very often in archives circles nowadays.

A state with no archives?

The UK Government HM Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS) is proposing the digitisation of all original wills proved since the civil registration of wills was introduced in England and Wales in 1858, followed by their destruction except for the wills of the elite. In previous blogs we have railed at numerous fifth columnists, traitors and collaborationists working towards the goal of subjugating Britain to the European Union in the realm of cultural heritage. These organisations and individuals include John Prescott , the Fabian Society, regional bodies, national government bodies including QUANGOs and of course the EU itself. We read with interest an article by Graeme Burton entitled Standard Practice in Managing Information and Documents , a hard copy periodical published by www.infoconomy.com The article is useful firstly in confirming reports that Sarah Tyacke, Chief Executive of The National Archives (TNA) and Keeper of the Public Records is standing down (in September according to a source in the Association of Chief Archivists in Local Government) and secondly in revealing that Dr. Tyacke, who is already chairman of the European Digital Lifecycle Management Forum (or DLM Forum ), funded by the European Commission, will be driving the convergence of national and EU-wide Electronic Records Management Systems (ERMS) standards using the EU's MoReq system.
